Target Audience

This program is intended for cardiologists, hospitalists, internists, family physicians, and other clinicians caring for patients with heart failure.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Accurately diagnose HF subtypes and predict outcomes with optimal use of available tools
  • Initiate evidence-based treatment strategies for HF based on identified patient risk factors and select treatment options that maximize use of conventional and newer treatment options to reduce hospitalizations and improve outcomes
  • Evaluate clinical data on emerging treatment options for the management of HF
  • Identify physiologic, economic, and cultural barriers that affect treatment of HF in black patients, women, and the elderly and initiate appropriate interventions to optimize outcomes in the underserved patient populations
