Target Audience

The target audience for the education are endocrinologists and obesity specialists, physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants/physician associates.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize clinical features that warrant further diagnostic workup for rare genetic causes of severe childhood obesity
  • Apply strategies that support patients with genetic obesity and their families
  • Evaluate the current clinical efficacy and safety evidence for MC4R agonist treatment in the management of genetic obesity
  • Identify patients who would benefit from setmelanotide treatment as part of the holistic management of genetic obesity

Goal


The goal of this activity is to improve the knowledge and competence of learners in recognizing the genetic causes of severe, early-onset obesity and implementing an individualized approach to manage long-term weight loss in both adults and children.
