Target Audience

This program is intended for endocrinologists, cardiologists, primary care physicians, hospitalists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, certified diabetes educators, and other healthcare providers who care for patients with type 2 diabetes.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Determine an appropriate A1C goal that reflects patient factors such as age, duration of T2DM, life expectancy, comorbidities, and risk of hypoglycemia
  • Apply key learnings from T2DM published guidelines and pivotal clinical study results to develop strategies for intensifying therapy in patients who fail to achieve glycemic control on initial therapy
  • Consider findings of cardiovascular outcomes trials when selecting T2DM regimens for patients with elevated cardiovascular risk
