Capsule Summary:
Immediate Antiretroviral Therapy Initiation in Patients With HIV-Associated Tuberculosis Does Not Decrease Morbidity and Mortality But Does Increase Incidence of Severe AEs
Patients who received immediate antiretroviral therapy demonstrated significantly shorter median time to HIV-1 RNA suppression and a significantly greater increase in CD4+ cell count at 2 months posttreatment relative to patients who received delayed treatment, but the CD4+ cell count increase difference did not persist at 12 months posttreatment.
